What happens to an outdated supercomputer when it’s replaced by a newer, faster machine?

When the Cray XK7 Titan supercomputer was finally decommissioned on August 1 after 7 years of faithful service, it had successfully executed a total of 2.8 million jobs for scientists around the world.

Based in Chippewa Falls, Wisconsin, Craig has worked for Cray, Silicon Graphics, and Hewlett-Packard managing transportation, services, parts, and asset recovery.

TERRY JACKSON

30 plus years of experience in the supercomputing industry.
As owner of Jackson Moving and Storage. Based in Chippewa Falls, Wisconsin, Terry has 30 plus years of delivering, installing and deinstalling supercomputers to customers in the U.S. and Canada.

Bob Hoehn

38 years of experience in the supercomputing industry installing and de-installing Cray supercomputers worldwide.

Based in Chippewa Falls, WI, Bob leads the operations team at CRA.  His responsibilities include initial client site visit, project planning and running the job site.

All CRA deinstalls and reinstalls leverage Terry’s fleet of state-of-the-art green/clean tractors and trailers.
